Rev. Kevin L. Weikel
Pastor

Rev. Kevin L. Weikel, or “Pastor Kevin,” serves as our Pastor. He is committed to fostering a welcoming, compassionate, and justice-minded church. A lifelong member of the United Church of Christ (UCC), Kevin believes in a church that embraces all people, nurtures faith in action, and serves others with love. His ministry is deeply rooted in Micah 6:8:

​

"Do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God."

​

A Southeastern Pennsylvania native, Kevin’s faith was shaped by the nurturing community of St. Paul’s UCC in Sellersville and the peer-led youth ministry of the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference. His experiences as a church camp counselor deepened his understanding of faith as a source of belonging, transformation, and lifelong connection—values that continue to inspire his ministry today.

With a love for music and education, Kevin earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Millersville University and began his career as a middle school music teacher before discerning a call to ministry. He earned his Master of Divinity from Lancaster Theological Seminary and was ordained in 2005. Currently, he is pursuing a Master’s in Social Work to further equip him in pastoral care, community outreach, and social justice work.

Before joining South Church, Kevin served for nearly two decades as Senior Associate Minister at First Church of Christ in Simsbury, leading youth and family ministries. He developed vibrant Confirmation and youth programs, organized over 30 retreats and 20 mission trips, and provided leadership in worship, pastoral care, mission outreach, and social justice initiatives.

In November 2024, Pastor Kevin was called to South Church. He is honored to walk alongside this congregation as they grow in faith, serve their neighbors, and build an inclusive, engaged community. He leads worship, preaches, provides pastoral care, and supports the church’s many ministries, working closely with church leaders, staff, and members. He is passionate about creating meaningful worship, strengthening outreach efforts, and deepening the church’s role in the wider community.

Kevin is a devoted father to his three children—Sadie, Asher, and Ella—who keep him laughing, learning, and appreciating life’s simple joys. Together, they enjoy music, mini golf, bowling, annual trips to Ocean City, NJ, and caring for their backyard chickens.

​

In addition to his children, Kevin finds joy in coffee, running, and sports. A lifelong Philadelphia sports fan. He is especially passionate about baseball and remains a devoted Phillies fan - a true act of faith living in Yankees and Red Sox territory. He occasionally picks up his guitar for worship and cherishes the sacred rhythms of everyday life.
